Kirsten is able to bring people together to create a common vision and then take action to make it a reality. She has been instrumental in changing City of Edmonton policies on issues as diverse as human rights, local food, land-use and public engagement. As the Community Co-Chair of the Advisory Committee for the Council Initiative on Public Engagement, her work will ensure communities are central to the City's incoming policy and framework.
Kirsten has a proven track record as a community leader. She received a BA and BEd from the University of Alberta. An experience community organizer, Kirsten has served on many non-profit boards and community associations. She has led organizations through sometimes difficult change, facilitating important conversations, while promoting and supporting good governance. Building strong relationships, supporting community capacity and developing leaders are all central to her work.
Along with her husband Shawn Robinson, Kirsten is raising her five children (two sets of twins) in Strathcona, the neighbourhood where she grew up. She plays soccer, is a member of Strathcona Centre Community League's Neighbourhood Renewal Committee and Kokopelli's adult community choir, Vacilando.
